My mother's Tappan dishwasher will start a clean cycle fill with water till float shuts water off and then it pumps the water out. I have tried to manually cycle the timer with no results. I have also tried to find a schematic to see if I could figure out what was in the circuit.
Thanks
Henry

When the fill stops the pumps comes on and pumps the water out, it does not circulate at all.

Remove the bottom panel and check the drain solenoid (#5 on the main motor break down diagram). It might be stuck in the drain position. Remove the solenoid and check if the shaft for the drain gate is moving freely. If not, then the pump has to be replaced. - The part number for the pump is AP2136753 - The part number for the drain solenoid is AP2149163 - Here are the break down diagrams for the Tappan dishwasher Model 61-1147-00-10Gene.

The drain solenoid was not stuck, it was free. I moved the lever to check to see if it was stuck, but it was free also. It ran fine after I did this. I am now wondering if something could have been lodged in the drain flap!!!
Thanks again Henry

Very possible a foreign object could obstruct the flapper.
I'm glad you were able to fix it easy.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Gene.
