Just like before, the dryer just runs and runs on the auto cycle. Last time we disassembled and there was wet lint causing the sensor's inability to know when the clothes were actually dry. Lately it seems to take a really long time to dry clothes and now it seems that it does not work in the timed cycle either. The timed cycle worked before when this happened. What needs to be checked and or replaced.

Did you clean the dryer vent line? If it goes far away or on top of the roof, then it must be cleaned by a pro.

Well the dryer will run and dry the clothing, but the timer knob does not move in either the auto mode or the timed mode. Would that still be the vent line or is the timer bad?

Well, cleaning the vent line would not hurt. Also, not cleaned vent line could cause a fire. The Owners manual says: Quote:...Every 18 months an authorized servicer should clean the dryer cabinet interior and exhaust duct. These areas can collect lint and dust over time. An excessive amount of lint build-up could result in inefficient drying and possible fire hazard... Gene.

But does it sound like we need a timer?

Not necessarily. Good vent cleaning can solve the problem.
