Hello,
My GE ice maker stopped working, but the water is working fine. I took the ice maker out and took it apart. I fount a bad burn about the size of a quarter on the board opposite what looks to be the transformer. So I replaced the ice maker with a new one. still no ice.
I checked the water line for ice and in seems ok. I'm thinking that my next step is to change the water valve an solenoid. There is no physical damage I can see. How can I test it.
The serge was bad enough that it knocked out several GFIs and a small TV.
Should the new ice maker have any sound or movement without water. I can't hear or see anything.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear. You can then see if the ice maker will freeze and dump the ice as it should.
