The cubes are getting stuck in the chute on the way to your glass. I'm thinking that if I could make them a tad smaller this wouldn't happen. But I don't see how to this - if it's possible.

There could be a problem with the ice dispenser such as ice buildup or the augur slipping but you may can adjust the time it fills with water by removing the plastic end cover on the ice maker and looking for the +- and move it toward the -. Your ice maker may not have this option.
