my washer works fine thru the wash cycle but, it continues past into an extra rinse cycle. this just uses more water and electricity than I want.
any idea what part to replace

I looked at the operators manual on the Whirlpool web site and could not see any option on the timer for an extra rinse so am at a loss on how to stop it.

If the unit has always done this then it is normal.
If it used to run without an extra rinse then the only thing I can think of which would do this is the timer.
