This morning the ice bucket was full of ice like water had overflowed the ice maker and flowed into the bucket where it froze. Then it would make ice, but only teeny pieces. But at least the blades were turning.
I removed the icemaker and defrosted it and the inlet hose (it was blocked with ice). I re-installed it and now the icemaker does nothing. No water goes in and the blades don't turn when I lift the arm and put it back down. BTW I have removed and re-installed the ice maker several times in the past for other problems so I do know how to do it.
It's a modular type and I tested the thermostat resistance - looks right. I also tested the motor resistance and the warmer resistance. All seemed right.
Any pointers for troubleshooting from here before I buy a whole new one?

The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill tube. It also could have stuck open and flooded your ice bin.
To eliminate the valve and water line as a problem Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear and with the water in the ice mold see if it starts cycling when it freezes and dumps the ice.

More info:
I poured water into the mold manually and the machine made (and ejected) ice. So the water supply appears to be the problem. Maybe it is blocked or a valve is failing.
Can any one elaborate if the valve is on the outside back of the refrigerator/freezer somewhere? Or is it inside the freezer - maybe behind the false back of the freezer where the coils and defrost heater are?
BTW there is no water dispenser on this unit so I can't use that as a test.

The water inlet valve is located where the water supply enters the fridge on the back usually near the bottom.
Some people have rigged it and put voltage directly to it to get the same results. (IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING.)
