Is there a vacuum pump that causes the whoosh sound when a freezer is first closed? I have replaced the door gasket and it doesnt sel well yet and still allows air to get into the freezer.

GAREN....on some models the large freezer door has small valves in the bottom of the door itself. There to help when you shut the door, there,s alot of air entering the cabinet so the valve moves the air out of the unit when the door is shut.It also helps to break the vacumn when the door is open. Some large doors are hard to open when closed for awhile.

The problem is that the new gasket seals still don't keep the door shut tight. The door still stays slightly ajar and allows air into and out of the freezer. Thought there may be a vacuum pump that caused the "normal" whoosh soundand that could be part of the problem that didn' let the door stayed sealed. thanks
