My LSG7800AAW dryer started making burnt rubber smell last week.
Today when I tried to start it it ran for a few seconds then stopped.
When I pushed the start button again it just made a buzzing noise.
I tried to start it a few more times then heard a small "pop".
This was followed by a burnt smell and now the start button does nothing at all (not even buzzing).
I am somewhat familiar with the internal parts of the dryer but I just don't know where to start.
Please help!

The probable (but not certain) cause of your problem is a motor that has gone bad.

Since you are smelling a burning type of odor, I would take out the motor and inspect it for signs of burnt places. If you find them it is highly like the motor has failed and the motor has to be replaced.

If you do not find anything wrong on a visual inspection of the motor, inspect the drum to make certain it is freely turning, and if so, then it is still likely the motor is the problem.

Good luck and let us know what you find out.
