washer has had no problems until now, began faulting on f06 code. cleaned,inspected, ran diagnostic test ,ohmed motor,finally gave up & called local dealer. he did same then called w'pool tech support they said they didn't know either since it happens intermittently. do i give up & get a new washer?

Welcome to the awful world of built in diagnostics and error codes that don't tell you anything.
You are dealing with either bad wiring, bad control board, bad motor control unit or something else. You are going to have to change out each item one by one to find the problem. That's what Whirlpool would do if they came out.
Notice, Whirlpoo don't even know what to do. That should telll you something about the design of this model.
