I got my coils yesterday and today removed the left skirt to expose the old coils. The coils are held in place by a metal clamp that would seem to necessitate removing more than the left side skirt in order to back out the philips screws. Is there a procedure for this operation?"

Solution: I just got enough light and space to discover that the philips looking screws were instead square and my earlier attempts to open them hadn't ruined them. Once I found that out, everything else tumbled into place and the dryer took off as if to make up for all the sleepy days and damp loads it had produced.
