I have the above mentioned dishwasher. When I came home today my wife noticed the door almost fell to the floor. I took off the bottom dishwasher plate and saw a white piece of plastic on the floor and a piece of white rope frayed and not connected to anything. I googled this topic and saw people suggesting it might need a door balance link kit. Does this seem correct? Would anyone know the part number for this model? Is this fairly easy for a basic homeowner to replace? Thank you.

The unit is KUDi not KUD1

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL KUDI01FLWH2 | AppliancePartsPros.com

Take a look in "Tub and frame" section
It is a fairly easy repair
Remove the kick plate to see what has broken.
You will probably have to pull the unit out from under the counter, a foot or so.
