After replacing the oven igniter and replacing the oven door which came off by mistake. I smell stale gas and I've checked the connections in back of stove and all is as it should be. I tried to take the top off and see what was under there when I was having problems. Didn't know what I was doing and was able to lift the front of stove top about 5" and came to a stop and when looking to see the reason why; the back two burners where not releasing completely so I stopped there, for there were no switches under there anyway. Could I have caused a line to come loose by lifting front or did I just disturb a stale gas pocket by working on the unit? It's been two days since the repairs and I still smell stale gas. Thanks for any light you might shed upon this stale gas smell.:(

Was thanked: 4 time(s) in 4 post(s)
The first thing I would do in such situation is to call The Gas company to check where is gas coming from.

Post their findings.

Gene.

Thanks Gene, that Is exactly what I did and he found no gas leak. I lite some candles and that helped until they went out, but the smell that I smelled has became more faint and I hope it's not that I'm getting use to the smell. Everything is fine man, the smell is getting hard to smell even when I go out and come back in. Thanks for your input!
