Heard a bang and the drum stopped turning. Not sure if the unit is really worthfixing at 18 years old? But I took off the back and dont see anything. Where is the belt drive? Is it on the front under the door? I cant see how to get the lower front off. I pushed two clips? I cant find anything on this model number.

You can see the belt drive if you remove the front toe panel. In order to replace the belt you have to remove the front panel. I would recommend to clean all air ducts and the air chute at the same time. You can find the complete disassembly instructions in the Service manual.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL LG7801XSW0 | AppliancePartsPros.com which is similar to yours.
