I have a 1994 Kitchenaid model KUDP230B that is leaking water on the floor. I pulled the bottom cover a noticed the water coming out of the tub around the motor. I looked up the KUDP230B on your website and it says its a Whirlpool (hopefully its the same machine as the Kitchenaid). I have not started disassembling the machine yet to look for a bad gasket, but notice a couple of likely candidates in the parts catalog. One would be the Motor Gasket Kit p/n AP2908993 and the other the Drain and Wash Impeller Kit which has a gasket included in the kit.

My questions are :
1) Am I looking at the right parts catalog and part numbers for my dishwasher ?

2) Are the two gaskets I'm looking at the likely culprits or is there something else that I should be looking at ??

3) If the gasket in the Drain and Wash Impeller kit should be replaced, should I just buy the gasket that is in that kit or am I wiser to buy the whole kit because of the age of the washer ?

Thanks for your help in advance.. Dave Greenough .. dgreenou@together.net

Hi Dave,

If the motor is not damaged due to a water leak (it does run without any unusual noises) then it can be fixed. You have to figure out if it's leaking around the sump or through the pump.

If it's leaking through the pump then it can be fixed by installing new impeller kit. You have to replace all parts included in this kit. You also will need the pump housing centering tool in order to place the new seal right.

If it's leaking only around the sump then the fix is to replace the motor gasket.

- The motor gasket Part number: AP2908993
Part number: AP2908993

- The impeller kit Part number: AP3115180
Part number: AP3115180

- The pump housing centering tool Part number: AP2908817
Part number: AP2908817

Thanks for the input. Since it just started leaking and the motor sounds OK, since I need to get this thing fixed fast, I have ordered all three part numbers.

Thanks again for the help.. Dave G.
