Hello all,

I have a fridge and freezer that is not getting cold. The fan next to the compressor is constantly running and the compressor is hot/warm to the touch. I can hear a switch click on and off every couple of minutes or so making me think it is related to the warm/hot temp. Could this fridge just need some freon put in it? If so how can i do this as the DIY man of the house? Just need to be pushed in the right direction and told what tools to get. Thank you in advance for the assistance.

You said you heard a clicking noise. Can you tell if its comming from the relay unit attached to the compressor. If it is then you probably have a bad relay/starting capactor. Usually its a unit together. Just change mine today. Woke up this AM and kept hearing a cliking noise and a buzzing sound for a few seconds every few minutes. Both fans were running. Changed the relay and capactor unit and every thing is working fine now
