Stacked washer/dryer Kenmore 417.90802990

I snapped off the dryer knob and had to open the control panel to pull the dryer-timer. The panel was filled with lint; the dryer motor and electrical connections were coated with a half inch of lint. I shone a light in the dryer and realized that there was a gap all around the drum. The gasket doesn't seem to be damaged or dried out.

Could it be just be seated improperly? Any experience with this sort of thing?

Thanks,
CJ

Most likely there is nothing broken. Your dryer as any other needs cleaning at least every other year. It has to be taken apart and cleaned inside.
