washing machine emits a rubbery burning smell especially during rinse and spin cycles. repairman came and said the motor is working a bit harder than it should and said its from worn out bearings. does this sound right? would this cause a rubbery smell?

It's hard to tell from afar, but I think it is more likely the brakes are hanging up a little bit.
