I have a Kenmore Elite Electric Dryer Model# 110 60982990 Serial# MK0705480.
I noticed a squeeking noise is coming from the motor when I turn it. I blew out all of the lint from the motor and it seems to not squeek as frequently. I am positive that the noise is coming from the motor since I took the dryer completely apart and isolated. I get periods of squeeking and times where the dryer is quite. Is there some type of maintainence I can do to the motor to eliminate the squeeking noise? I also, had the dryer stop working on me (dryer drum not turning)...possibly from being over worked? I waited until the following morning and the dryer started working again - but motor still squeeks. Do I need to replace the motor?

Do I need to replace the motor? Yes A little 3in1 oil or any good oil (not WD40) will stop it for a while but it will usually come back. Here is a good link on motors http://www.applianceaid.com/wp-motors.htmlIf your motor has the problem shown in "Check this out", it should be replaced ASAP. |
