I have a Jenn Air Dishwasher that is approx. 9 years old. Recently the control knob (timer) has become increasingly hard to turn. Does it simply need to be replaced? I see the part I need for approx. $50 and new dishwashers cost between $250 - 400. Just curious if this timer replacement will fix the problem and how long can I expect to get out of this dishwasher? Also, how difficult a repair is this? I took the inside door off to access the control panel and it just looks like three screws and a wire harness need to be removed to remove the old timer...but I have been fooled by "easy" jobs before.

Thanks for any help or advice you can provide.

I have the exact problem and mine is about 9 years old. Are Jenn Air dishwashers manufactured by someone else because I can't find a repair manual for the thing.

Try spraying it with a non-residue cleaning spray available at Lowe's.

The first thing I would do is follow Rich's advise. In most cases it's hard to turn the knob just because of excessive tension caused by a dried plastics. Post the results.
