Just got parts to rebuild my Maytag dryer; the slide bearing that gets pop riveted for the front support, does the cork go UNDER THE PLASTIC piece before I rivet the bearing on? ALSO, ALL the paint is gone from that area. Is that important to have white paint on the front edge of the drum? I could have it powercoated if it has to be there. It is now a bare steel color (but smooth).
Thanks,
Steve:(

Steve:( Steve, You're on the right track, Yes the cork pad goes under the polyester glide and on top of the metal frame of the bulkhead, you do not rivet the cork pad. so it should be: metal bulkhead, cork pad, polyester glide, then the rivet(s)). As for the drum edge, if it's smooth, just prime and paint it ( I would reccomend"epoxy"paint, but powder coating would be a bit "over the top". You could also "flip" (reverse) the tumbler when you install it. Unless you know why the front edge got scraped, you will need to check the front tumbler felt seal for a small article that is stuck in it (zipper tabs and clasps are famous) for scraping the front edge. Make sure the dryer is level or just slightly higher in the front and you'll be fine. :) :) :)
