the dryerturns on but the timer does not turn and the is no heat what could be wrong

do you mean the fuses or do you mean if there tripped

the breakers are not tripped could it be the timer

Possible, BUT unlikely, You may want to hire a PRO, If you just change the timer, and its NOT the problem, you have wasted your money!!!!

i turn the dryer on and tapped on the heater it flamed up for a second but turned off again, tapped it again and got the same results. Any more suggestions before i hire someone.

If you tap on the heater, and it comes on, Its either a funky acting thermostat OR the Heating element!!!!! Remove the heating element and look at it VERY CLOSELY!!! I think you will find a break in the element!!!! (when you tap on it the break closes up enough to heat for a second):)

Thank you I found a break in the heating element.I appreciate the info and the money you saved me.
