My whirpool side by side evaporator coils keep freezing over. I just replaced the defrost timer 24 hours ago and it seems to be freezing over again. I turned the timer with a screwdriver and the unit shuts down but the evap. coil heater was not warm. How can I decide if it is the bimetal, the heater coil or the thermostat? I do not want to keep buying random pieces. I hooked the new defrost timer with the black timer wire to prong 2 on the replacement timer. The frig over time gets very warm with quite a bit of ice over the lower two thirds of the coils. Once I melt the ice on the coils, runs cool for a couple of days only and then the problem starts all over.
Thanks very much in advance.

Cut the wires going to the defrost therm, strip the wire back 3/4" on the wires going to the wiring harness (not the wires left on the therm). Twist the wires together, tape them up, and put it into defrost, Does the heater get hot now??? If so, Replace the defrost therm!!!! If not, Replace the Heater!!!! ( MY MONEY IS ON THE THERM ):D

Would that be the bi-metal defrost thermostat on the evap. coil?
