Hi All... over two years later and it has worked on two samsungs that were both having this problem.

Mine has been working too for the past 4 or 5 years. I lost track.
Mine was solved by replacing the defrost thermistor located on the fridge evap coil and then mother board. The old motherboard will not run the defrost mode, but will run the rest of the fridge in an emergency. Put it in a safe place.
