I have a Kenmore 110.62812100 electric dryer.

Last winter I replaced the heating element and all of the thermostats and other electronic items in the back of the dryer thinking that was the problem with it, but was unsuccessful.

The dryer works OK in the sense that it turns on, gets heat and runs. The problem is that the clothes don't dry and take extremely long.

I have noticed that if i remove the dryer vent from the wall the unit works ok.

Also, when the vent is plugged into the wall, I can remove the lint filter from the top of the unit, and feel the hot air and watch little dust particles come up out of the dryer. So it seems to be venting ok.

I have cleaned the vent recently with a lint eater product. I have also had a vent company tell me that the vent is clean, and it's the dryer.

The total distance of the vent is about 18-20 feet and goes up through the roof of our condo. The dryer itself is on the 2nd floor of our condo.

Could it be the motor/blower that it is not producing enough 'push' to dry everything correctly ?

Any way to test anything else with the dryer ? Could it be a bad board in the top control panel with all of the switches/controls ??

This points to a vent system problem.

This really does not tell you anything.

Without knowing how they checked your vent I cannot comment on this.
Did they go on the roof and actually check the vent? The pipe may be clean but the screen on the vent may be partially plugged.

I doubt this as motors either run at the correct speed or do not run at all.

I would check the following.
1. Is the lint screen clean. Sometimes it can get coated with fabric softener residue greatly reducing air flow. If coated clean with soap and water.

2. Check the blower wheel is clean and that it is not slipping on the motor shaft.

3. Check all internal seals in the units air flow path.

4. Are the holes at the back of the drum clean.

5. Make sure that the exhaust hose is not kinked/crimped anywhere.

I will be checking this out and letting you know.

When they cleaned teh vents before, they always check out the screen and have always said there is nothing blocking up there.. i'm leaning toward the blower wheel and slipping because it is a hike UP for it to vent.

I'm also going to try and get a short periscope vent for the back because right now i have a trimmed vent that is kinked in the back (but doesn't change anything if i straighten it out.

i'll keep you updated with the status..

If anyone has any other ideas, please share...

So oddly enough, the dryer worked correctly once out of the blue when the temperature dropped one night and then again has become intermittent. I should be testing the thermostats and heating elements in the unit tonight and will reply with the results.
