Need to know how to wire a dryer motor on a Maytag washer/dryer stack. The motor part number is 306055. Don't have the model no. on the dryer. The old motor wires were color coded, the new motor just has numbers. The colors on the old motor wires are: blue black gray yellow red and the numbers that they can be wired to are 2 6 4 3 5 1. anyone know which color goes to which number?

Just had the same problem. Took my handyman 2 hours to figure it out with Maytag on the phone. Called three people at Maytag before we found someone worth their salt. Figured I better post my results so someone else can benefit. Here you go:
Black = 2 Yellow = 6 Red = 5 Grey = 4 Blue = 1

However, the old motor had the black wire on #1 and the blue wire on #2!!! Since it appears that these two wires are on opposite terminals of a centrifugal switch, I assume that they can be interchanged. Am I correct?? Would be nice to know before I button this one up and try it!! Thanks, John

So I am working on a se7800 stackable. I bought the new motor which as stated the wiring is different from color coded to numbered. I followed the advice on this thread on wiring. Now the dryer shuts off as soon as I let go of the start button... confused, thanks.
