A model number may help others help you.
Sounds like your motor is overheating and tripping it's internal thermal protect. You then have to wait for the motor to cool down so the thermal protect can reset before starting it again.
Try rotating the drum in the correct direction. It should turn fairly easily. Ypou may want to try this on a couple oter units just to get a feel for it.
If it is hard to turn you will have to open it up and find out what is causing it to bind.
Also could be that your motor is on it's last legs. |

thanks denman...model LDG7304AAE...well...lol...dryer just died...I was duck taping the door button to keep it in while I pushed the start button and turned the cylinder clockwise and that was working to start it till just now. NOW no buzz, no start and almost impossible to turn cylinder. Tried a few times holding the start button in...no luck...did smell a bit of an electrical burn...what do you think?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for MAYTAG LDG7304AAE DRYER- GAS | AppliancePartsPros.comWhat ever was causing the problem finally failed completely. I would put the motor at the top of the list, sounds like it seized. At over a hundred dollars plus for the motor plus you may need other parts (might as well give it an overhaul), it may not make sense to fix this unit. You will have to open it up and find the cause. |
