The unit has sat for years it has few hours on it. when i pluged it in it wouldnt cool. i ran it over night and it would make a light frost on the top of the coil but thats as far as it goes the rest of the coil is lightly cool. i thought it may be low on freon. but i was told it was the temp control. does this sound right or would someone have an idea of what i should check. the compressor runs and sounds good the fan inside runs and seems to blow well.

Partial frosting means low freon. A faulty temp control would not cut the compressor off when the proper temp was reached or it would cut the compressor off before the proper temp was reached.
