Hello,
I have a kitchenaid model KUDI01TJBL1.
It is not drying the dishes. I have tested the heater coil and it is bad.
Before I order the replacement a thought I would check the active vent also. I am measuring 1.6K ohms between the lugs on the vent with the wires removed. Is this a normal reading?
Thanks,
tdma

Thanks, that helped.
FYI, I just called Kitchenaid as my unit is still under the 5 year warranty.
First they told me the heater element was not covered, transfer to supervisor, yes it is.
Then they said it must be diagnosed with a service call at my cost, more than the part costs. Transfer to technical assistance.
Part is bad, will only give heater element, not new control board as recommended. (not good enough)
Finnally we will ship the parts to you at no cost, with the control board and make it 2-3 day at our cost.
Took 30 min, like pulling teeth, but I got the parts for free.
For the uninformed, the original heating element has a problem where the coating comes off and messes the inside of the tub with black gunk. Also why it fails so soon.
The replacement heating element is different, hence the need for the new control board. If your element is not covered for 5 years on your model as mine is you may try to push that the new contol board is covered for 5 years and is part of the replacement part number.
Thanks again

Glad to hear it is working out for you.
I must say I am very impressed with your negotiating skills Most people just end up with anger, an upset stomach and a service call bill, when dealing with these companies.
You must have a talent, far beyond the norm.
Congratulations From just another consumer.

Once they agreed the element was covered I knew I had them.
I had called an authorised repair center for the element price and was told the contol board must be changed as per Kitchenaid tech notice.
They could not argue this any further.
As far as avoiding the service call, only tecnical assistance can do that. I talked to the tech and was able to convince them I knew what I was doing.
Be very polite and use a speaker phone as you will be on hold for a long time, several times.
