My 4 year old direct drive Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Washer (no model # to be found anywhere on the machine) is ocsillating during the spin cycle. All other cycles are correct. I have pumpout , so motor is turning. I visually inspected coupler. The drum just jerks about 2 inches back and forth about once a second. I also hear the brakes shrieking during this occsillation. I have replaced the plastic cam actuator and clutch. Thanks in advance.

The first thing I would check is the drive block.
I can not refer to the break down diagram without the model number. You can find it under the lid.

Sounds like a tranny going sour. Pull it out, turn coupler clockwise, clutch disk should turn, then turn coupler counterclockwise, agitator spindle should oscillate back and forth, please post results. If ok, check the brake shoes for operation/release, just turn plastic cam clockwise and look for brake release.
