I noticed the other day that even though the clothes are dry, the dryer will just continue to run and run. The dryer does get hot, does stop when the door is opened and does shut off properly if its on a timed cycle. Bad moisture sensor? Could I be that lucky to have it be a $3 part? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Basically it is two strips of wire, when the clothes are wet the dampness between the wires creates a circuit path and this tells the unit the clothes are still wet. If dirt etc. gets between the wires the unit sees this as wet clothes and continues to run.

It is attached to the front frame of the dryer, and is held on by two 5/16s screws on each side. If mama uses dryer sheets, you can get a build up on the sensor. Clean in with alchohol, or nail polish remover. Also chech and make sure one of the wires did not vibrate of the sensor. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
