Hello All,

I'm hoping one of may be able to help with the following issues I'm having with my dishwasher:

1) The soap and rinse aid are sometimes not released during the cycle, I have tested the input to the "wax" motor during a quick cycle and no, (or only a brief flash of) power is being fed to the motor to initiate the opening/rinse aid injection sequence. (See photo)

2) The cycle sometimes just stops, (or doesn't even start) with the digital readout stating "x minutes remaining" with nothing happening.

3) The machine gets locked into a rinse cycle, it reads, "1 minute remaining" but will continue rinsing for 30 minutes (or more, I generally cancel the program).

There are no fault codes listed.

I feel that a replacement of the motherboard may be required but have been quoted £330 (approx $500) by Siemens to replace this which seems a little harsh.

Does any one have any alternative ideas? Your help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Tom

I had a similar problem where the soap packets would turn into a gooey mess and remain stuck in the dispenser.

After much research, I stumbled across a description of the function of the wax motor. Based on the description, I came to the conclusion that the motor/actuator system that operates the soap dispenser, ALSO activates the rinse. OR - another way of saying it would be that the FIRST time the motor is activated, it dispenses soap. The SECOND time the motor is activated, it dispenses rinse.

What would happen if you were to interrupt the dishwasher AFTER the soap was dispensed and BEFORE the rinse.

I ran an empty cycle for about 20 - 30 minutes ... interrupted the cycle ... then ran it again.

Yeah ... the problem was fixed and it has been working flawlessly for about a month now.

BEFORE you spend a bunch of money on parts and the labor to replace the unit, try this "free" approach. I hope it works for you like it did for me.
