My washer goes completely through the wash cycle but shuts off after wash cycle is complete. It will not advance to spin/drain/rinse. I have tried turning off/on, opening/closing door and unplugging but nothing works. I am thinking it may be the timer?? Please advise.

Check the lid switch, you have classic lid switch symptoms.

I assume this is a basic top loading machine.
