ice dispenser door flap will not close completely letting room temp. air enter freezer ,causing ice crystals to form on flap and inside door on ice dispenser on door. no debris on flap to hinder it from closing. when freezer door is opened ice crystals fall on floor.

You will need to remove the fountain trim and inspect the flapper parts, might have a bad solenoid that partially melted the parts.

after removing door gasket , have checked inside of door and there are no screws to remove to take inside plastic door shell off. it is one piece that covers entire door and appears to be glued to metal part of door. i took a razor knife and began to cut the glue between the metal door shell and the plastic shell and styrofoam began to fall out. is this the correct way to get to the ice dispensing door flap on this model?

No, you use a putty knife and pry off the trim on the outside of the door.

there is no trim on inside of door to pry off. you have the gasket and then the plastic inside of the door that has the shelves molded into it which appears to be gluded to the metal door front. this is the way it came from the factory. the only thing to pry off is the plastic door inside that extends from the top to the bottom of the door.

I know this is an old post so hopefully you'll see this...can you expand on the how/why the solenoid could melt the parts? I'm having the same issue as OP, the ice flap rubber ring has warped so the seal doesn't properly close the flap, letting outside air in and causing drainage of melted ice at the ice dispenser. Thanks in advance.

The solenoid will overheat if left on too long, should only be turned on for a short period. Also, sometimes they will overheat fast if it has shorted turns from a power surge.
