Does the gate in the ice chute open when you push the lever or not?

Does it make any noise when you try to get an ice?

GE side by side refrigerator won't dispense ice but will dispense water.

when you tried to get ice, the flapper will open and you will hear a huming noise but no ice comes down. i can the turn the motor shaft clockwise and counter clockwise with some effort.

thank you and let me know if you know what is wrong with it.

Remove the ice bin. Open the freezer door, tape in the light switch, push the ice release lever on the dispenser (check for both cubed and crashed ice) and watch the auger motor and the solenoid. Post the results.
