The fridge, 11 years old, does not cool enough, does not make ice (in ice trays in freezer; it doesn't have an icemaker).
The coils are not iced up, but the defrost thermostat had no continuity when cold, so I replaced it (although I did not expect that to solve the problem).
The compressor is warm. Both fans are working.
What is my next step? (I have all the back covers off but don't know what I'm looking at.)
How does one remove the temperature control to test it? (The diagrams on the Appliance Parts Pros site do not seem to show sufficient detail or operational parts.)

Is there any frost at all on the coils in the freezer.

If the compressor cuts off before the selected temp is reached the thermostat may be at fault but if the compressor keeps running and no frost forming on the evaporator coils in the freezer I would suspect low freon.

Is Freon a DIY replacement?

You would need a qualified tech to find the leak, repair it and recharge the system.
