We have a dryer with the lint screen that you pull out of the top of the unit. We clean the lint trap every time we do a load of laundry. I've noticed more lint than I feel there should be coming out of the dryer exhause on the outside of the house. I think I'm going to have to take the exhaust hood off of the side of the house and try to clean it as it gets plugged up. Is it normal for that much lint to be blowing out the exhaust? If not, then what might my problem be?

Unfortunately we really cannot say if your lint discharge is normal, but almost all of the lint should be captured by the filter, and since your machine is less than one year old there should not be a lot of lint build up in the machine.

In addition to your plans to clean the lint system I would check to make sure your filter does not have any holes and that it is being "seated" correct in the slots when it is placed in the machine. If the problem persists I would get a service call since your machine is less than one year old and this can be a problem down the road.

Good luck.
