Hi,

A few weeks ago my GE GSS25JFMCWW refrigerator started to behave strangely. The fresh food side became very cold and things like milk would freeze into solid even though the temp setting had not been changed. This lasted for a couple weeks. But now the upper parts of both the freezer and the refrigerator are no longer cold. The bottom parts of the freezer and the refrigerator are still cold and seem to have similar temperature. I changed the control board, but that has not solved the problem. Can anyone tell me what seems to be wrong?

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control to let more cold air in or block the air flow Make sure it works. Make sure the fan in the freezer is running when the compressor is running. If the coils behind the back cover in the freezer are ice up the cooling will be affected.

Thanks. I just found out that the fan was not running while the compressor was running. I also tested the voltages between the red and white and yellow and white connectors to the fan. They were both about 13v. Does that mean the fan motor is bad?

Yes if you have voltage the fan should run.
