Our Maytag dryer was making a squeaky / squealing noise. I was too busy so my wife called for service. The service man replaced the blower wheel.
The noise seemed to go away. After 2 months, the noise return, I took the dryer apart and inspected the idler pulley, drum rollers, front glide (bearing) and belt I replaced the idler pulley and cleaned out the unit. I do need to replace the front glide bearings but waiting on the parts.

I ended up taking off the new blower wheel to see if the motor alone made the sound. Sure enough it does. It's making a squealing or squeaky sound. Sometimes it gets very noisy, other times its low almost gone but it always returns.

Does this mean the motor is going? Do I need a new motor or is there something else that I could check? Thanks.

Yes it does sound like your motor bearings are going.

A little oil on the bearings (not WD40) may halp for a while but the noise will return.
