We were cleaning mode. Big snap and spark in oven and now bottom oven two coils will not shut off. They heat but don't glow and we have to shut off using breaker. How do I determine which part to replace. No arcing or burnt wires in the back. Coils seem intact. Also display does not show any faults and everything normal and turned off.

Here are your parts Replacement parts for MAYTAG MER6772BAB | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is a service manual http://www.servicematters.com/m...ibrary/docs/16010107.pdfDid the spark happen inside the oven itself or just in the general direction of? Finding the mark left by the spark may help trouble shoot the problem. Make sure the power is off before doing anything!!! 240 volts is lethal!!! It sounds like the elements are grounded re: they are getting 120 volts instead of 240 volts. Check them where they are supported As an example the lower element's feet, the element may have shorted to the foot and this is shorting to the frame. |

Makes sense. While in cleaning mode there was a spark and a pop ontop of the bottom coil. I will take coils out and inspect. Great help thanks. Will let you know.
