Hi, I started my GE diswasher (serial# GL836543B) the other day and it filled with water but did not wash. And something smelled like it had heated up, not sure what happened. So now the diswasher is filled with water that won't drain. I'll confess I tend to wash my dishes by hand so the washer did not get used very often. Can this issue be repaired? If so, is there anything I can do to fix it myself and what is the cost estimate? Also, if you know of a reliable repair agency I can contact, and what the repair estimate would be, please let me know. I'm in the D/FW area in Texas. Thanks in advance!

After the water stops coming in do you hear a humming noise? If so the motor may be stuck. Unlock the door to disconnect power from motor then turn the motor by hand a few times (should be able to turn the fan on the back of motor). Then lock the door back and it may go back to work. Sometimes dishwashers will do this when they sit for long periods of time. If the washer does this often or if it does it again soon replace the motor. Dishwasher Repair Guide
