Hello everynone,

My Kenmore side by side fridge-freezer stop making ice. My wife told me that one morning she heard sparks and sizzle comming from the fridge. Upon opening the freezer door she notice a lot water dripping and smoke comming from the the bottom tray. No water leaked was noticed from the outside bottom of the fridge just inside the freezer. She unplugged the fridge and removed all items from it, after plugging it back everything seems normal except no ice making.

The ice maker went bad within a year and the tech replaced a module where the ice ejector is.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

The sizzle and smoke (steam) and water drip could all be natural defrost cycle in the freezer and unrelated to the ice maker.
Although during defrost it may not be cold enough to make ice. Check the temp of the freezer to make sure it's cold enough to make ice. Is there any water or ice in the ice mold.

Thanks for your reply woodchuckie. There's no water in the mold nor ice. I haven't notice any water going into the ice maker. The temperature in the frezzer is good, no spoiled food and I can hear the motor running.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear. After there is water in the ice mold see if it starts cycling after it freezes and dumps the ice.

The wires at the dual inlet valve? Can you show me a diagram or sketch of what I'm looking for?

Thanks

This may not exactly be like yours but you can see the two plugs for each side.

Thanks woodchuckie. I need to start a new thread, the fridge is tripping the circuit breaker at the panel.
