Today, the subject washer ( MAV6200AWW) started making a noise which sounds like there are rocks in the tub.

It makes no noise when it spins or rinses, making this sound only during the wash cycle.

I took the front panel off and ran another load of laundry. Again it made the noise only in the wash cycle.

There are no foreign objects visible in the tub and all electrical components seem fine. The fan belt looks good and all the pulleys seem to be moving properly. With the front off, the sound still seems like it is coming from the bottom of the tub, but I can't visibly find the problem.

I am okay with repairs, recently replacing the drain pump on this machine, after the original started leaking, but I don't know exactly how far I would be willing or able to go to solve this problem.

Any assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!!

If it is agitating ok, I would suspect something has come loose in the brake assembly.

You will need a special tool to get into it, the brake spring is under 200 lbs of pressure and dangerous if you do not do things right.
