I have a subzero with a warm freezer. After hearing clicking from the overload relay (not the start). I replaced both and also the condenser fan motor when I realized it was not running. When restarted it began to cool and got all the way down into the single digits in only a few hours. I went to bed and woke up (about six hrs later) and the unit is at 36 degrees and overload relay clicking again. Fan is running. Does it need more time? Does this mean compressor is bad? Any help would be great!

Does it need more time? I doubt it. The compressor is trying to start but cannot so additional time will probably not help. Does this mean compressor is bad? Since you replaced the starter and the overload and it still has the same problem then I would say the compressor is toast.
I cannot find a wiring diagram for this unit so do not know if the following applies. If it has a capacitor as part of the compressor wiring then that may be shot. The only real way to check this is to replace the capacitor. Checking a capacitor with a meter can tell you if it is open or shorted unfortunately they often only fail when working voltage is applied and a specialized (expensive) capacitance tester must be used to do this. |

I actually ordered a new capacitor by mistake but haven't installed. I give it a try.
