Our kitchenaid dishwasher started making a high pitch whine when it runs through the wash cycle. Any ideas on what would be causing this noise?

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL KUDP01ILBT2 | AppliancePartsPros.com

Here is a service manual yours should be close
https://secured.whirlpoo...800643b6d/$FILE/KD01.pdf

Here is the tech sheet for this unit
https://www.servicematters.com/d...0Sheet%20-%208537797.pdf

And finally a bulletin on pump noises
http://www.servicematters.com/m...rary/docs/TDD-0015-B.pdf
This sheet is for different models but the basic info will apply.

You will have to open it up to find a cause.
If everything else is OK then it is probably the motor itself.

I would like to thank Denman for his reply to my problem of a Kithchenaid dishwasher with a high pitch whine during the wash cycle. He sent me several links to help with the diagnostics. The service manual link was outstanding. I followed the suggested procedure and found the problem. The front motor bearing was worn out because of a leak that had developed between the impeller and the shaft seal. I have received the replacement parts from Appliance Parts Pros, installed them and the dishwasher is back up and running very quietly.
Thanks again,
