We have a whirlpool refrigerator, it was made in 2000. It leaks water into the bottom of the refriderator from the freezer. What would cause this? We completely unloaded it and defrosted the entire refrigerator but it is still leaking. Would a faulty fan in the freezer be the problem? If so how simple is the fix? Is it a do yourselfer or should a pro do the work?

Sounds like the drain is stopped up. This is a simple repair job you can do yourself. First, remove the cover off the back of the freezer then under the coils there should be a drain. If the drain is your problem it will be covered with ice, remove the ice. Then you need to clear the drain. I do this by forcing hot water down the drain with a turkey baser but you can use any squirt bottle. I even once used the garden hose. Also look on the back of the refrigerator to see if it has a trap on the back if so remove it and clean it out. Once the drain is clear the leak should go away.
