I start it up on any cycle. the basket fills. after it fills it hums for a few seconds then the gfci outlet trips and the washer stops huming (of course...l.no power) I stop the washer (setting control) and re-set the gfci. when I start the washer it just hums...... I was told it was the water pump....I have already ordered one. could it be perhaps a plug not connected? or a circuit board? the motor? What seems the most likely??? the machine is about 5 or 6 years old and was totally dependable until this problem..

You need to take off the cabinet and see if the pump is obstructed, if there is a problem with a broken or jammed coupling, if the motor is bad or if the transmission is the problem. All of those would produce the symptoms you describe.
If you are just ordering parts without knowing what is wrong you will just end up with a big parts bill.
