Good day all...had my washer since 1995 and it has been very good to me (knock on wood) but lately it has been, and not always, making a strange noise during the wash cycle and the agitation is very slow. It is almost a grinding sound. It doesn't do it for all washes though. So it seems like something is very close to breaking?? Make sense?

My husband is someone who can fix it but need to know what to look for so I can buy the correct parts.

Thanks for all who can assist! Have a great evening :)

This sounds very much like a transmission failing, and given the age of the machine I would say do this.

1. Congratulate yourselves on getting this much life out of your washer.
2. Celebrate by getting a new machine. A basic top loader will do fine, won't cost much and will make you very happy.

Good luck, hope this helps.
