Age of dryer unknown. The owner of this appliance said that problems initially began when the types of drying cycles stopped working, like: the timed drying stopped, then the auto dry cycle stopped. Then she was down to only one way to dry her items. Then last week it would not start at all,no matter what type of drying, or time, was chosen.
I am unsure if this could possibly be 2 problems or 1 problem that begins as I stated, and then evolves into total shutdown once all cycles have burned up its abilities. Please give me some ideas, to help the woman better diagnose the problem, or help me decide to assist her by replacing the part. At this time she is unable to have a service man do the work. I said I would assist in this process if she can resolve her questions with a diagnosis, so the correct part can be purchased. Thank you, Carrie

I would start by checking the timer.
