When I place something in the microwave, set the time and press start, sometimes it starts runs and cooks fine. Other times the timer starts counting but nothing else happens.
I was told there are some kind of switch or sensor to tell the door is closed before it will start, is this the problem? Does the timer counting but nothing else help troubleshoot?

Hello Brentcd. You will need to disconnect the power to the unit, and remove the outer cover off the microwave. Once removed, check and make sure the latch board is not loose or broke. Also check the door latch and make sure the latch spring in the door is good. If so, you will want to test the door switches. Make sure they are reading properly and the push buttons on them are not sticking. You can test this with a multi-meter [AP3873826]. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros...continuity-ohmmeter.html
