Hello, I have been having a problem with my freezer door popping open when the fridge door shuts,my husband and I know to push it closed,it's become a habit for us.We've adjusted the legs to tilt the unit back ,that doesn't help. anyways to make a long story short. we went away for the weekend and our pet sitter left the freezer door ajar,we got home saw the temps in the fridge and freezer higher than normal ,closed the doors and let the fridge run..and run..and run. the freezer temp kept getting colder but the fridge got warmer. I uplugged fridge, vaccummed out coils and everything I could vaccum bsically. emptied fridge and freezer, put pots of boiling water in both and let it sit for about 2 hours. turned unit back on and it worked fine. freezer at -2 to -4 fridge at 36 - 37 two weeks later freezer started getting colder -12 fridge at 48. i finally took the back panel off the rear of the freezer it is a solid block of ice. I again unplugged and this time used the boiling water to defrost along w/ a hair dryer til absolutely NO ICE was left.I got alot more water in the drain pan than the last time perhaps It had frozen up solid the first time and i didnt defrost it all the way andthe fridge just ran right for awhile til it rebuilt more ice on the evaporator? I taped the freezer door shut so no accidental pop opens happened.I just plugged it back in after defrosting and reassembling the unit,we'll see how it goes. if it starts doing this again what next? I've read thru the forums none list my model number but I get the gist of some things but to my model specifically...where is the defrost element? I couldnt see it while defrosting..where is the temp sensor? the thingy that tells the freezer when to defrost? help please. thanks.

as of this morning the temp in the fridge is 36 f in the freezer its 1 f it was -2 in freezer 36 in fridge last night around 11 pm..the motor /fan is still running..no frost on the back freezer panel yet, is it supposed to run all the time like this? I am so tired of messing with this thing. if anyone could tell me how to check the defrost coil I'd appriciate it.. It is not visible when I remove the back panel and I dont want to just start unbolting things and wind up doing more damage.
